    Karen Safran joined Schlueter, Mahoney & Ross in August of 2019. She concentrates her practice in commercial litigation and appeals, mediation, arbitration, construction law, business consulting, and real estate law. Prior to joining the firm, she was with Carson Fischer, P.L.C. in Michigan, a boutique firm that served sophisticated business clients in the Detroit metropolitan area. Her clients included corporate executives, real estate developers, automotive suppliers, and closely-held businesses.

    While practicing in Michigan, Karen was actively involved in state and local bar associations and was a Master in the Oakland County Bar Association’s chapter of the American Inns of Court. Karen was also the chairperson of the State Bar of Michigan’s Civil Procedure and Courts Committee, which reviews and makes recommendations for improving the administration, organization, and operation of Michigan’s state courts. In this role, Karen assisted in drafting and recommending a number of revisions to the Michigan Court Rules, including the recently adopted revisions to the civil discovery rules.

    Since 2010, Karen has been recognized as one of Michigan’s “Super Lawyers.” She also has an “AV” peer review rating from Martindale Hubbell and was included in the dBusiness “Top Lawyers in Metropolitan Detroit.” In 2015, she became a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, a trial lawyer honorary society comprised of less than one-half of one percent of American Lawyers. Fellowship in the LCA is highly selective and by invitation only.

    Karen is also an avid skier, a volunteer ski instructor with the Ignite Adaptive Sports program, and a graduate of the Second City Conservatory improv training program.
